Isometric exercise machines could be good for you
Isometric exercise machines are becoming increasingly popular as more and more people discover the benefits of isometric exercise.
The idea behind isometric exercise is that muscles work harder by holding in one position instead of following through on full repetitions where full use of the muscle may only occur in a fraction of the full motion. An example would be doing a bicep curl. When using an isometric exercise machine to do a bicep curl a user would stop in the middle of the curl and hold the position for approximately ten seconds. Afterwards they would repeat the movement five or ten times. Instead of doing three sets of ten, which would be the traditional weight lift approach, a person can get a full workout of the muscle within those few repetitions. The idea is that when holding in that halfway position, you are using 100 percent of the muscle for ten full seconds. If you simply move past that position in a repetition, the muscle's full use only occurs a small fraction of the time.
Some fitness experts assert that using isometric exercise machines will help to increase muscle density and bone strength, ultimately leading to increased metabolism and fat burning. Some, however, think that this approach to muscle building can be viewed as a substitute for cardiovascular exercise. On one hand, some cardiovascular exercise can be attained through isometric exercises, especially if each exercise is done with very small time intervals between them. However, many fitness experts will still argue that a full cardiovascular program would be a good complement to the training regimen as well.
Still, while isometric exercise machines are a good option for those looking to build muscle and burn fat, some will say that doing traditional exercises with an isometric approach will do the same as using the machines. What it may boil down to is figuring out what is more comfortable for you.
